18 weeks

So today I am 18 weeks and one day pregnant. Can't believe time is just flying bye! George and I went to the Dr. on Monday for my check up. We were able to hear our baby's heart beat again. It was fun because the Dr. was able to find it right away and it was beating so fast and strong. 160 beats a minute.

We were also able to set up our ultrasound appointment, Friday, March 19th at 8 a.m. I told George that after we find out...I'm heading shopping!!! haha.

16 weeks

This photo was taken on February 20th when I was 16 weeks pregnant. Not showing any baby bump yet. Fell on the ice that evening and took a trip to the ER to make sure the baby was still okay. Baby and I checked out just fine.

and baby makes three!

and baby makes three!

We are excited to announce that we are expecting our first child to be born August 4, 2010. We wanted a child and had been trying for only a short time and were quite surprised to find out that we were indeed pregnant. It has been so fun to share our news with our families and friends. And then to find out we have a relative expecting just three days after us and a friend due four days after us! This will be a fun time to share with them as well.
So how did we tell our families....
My nephew Jake was the first family member to find out. I knew that since he was only three he would quickly forget when Aunt Missy told him that there was a baby in her belly.
I told Penny early one morning. Sent her a text saying that I got her a Christmas present but it would take 8 more months for delivery. :)
Next came Chris & Amy and Drew. George and I had their name for Christmas so we sent a special package with all their presents. Inside this special package was pink and blue tissue paper that covered a baby diaper. On the diaper was a little note that said, "Coming Soon...due August 4!" I was on the phone with them that morning as they unwrapped their presents. If I remember right, they had their son, Drew open that present. They didn't quite understand why I was sending them a diaper. Perhaps it was for their baby that is due to arrive in June? No. FINALLY they caught on! It was funny.
I told mom and dad on Christmas Eve. Like the rest of this winter season, we had a snow storm. George was going to be with me as we told him, however, with the bad storm coming in, he had to leave to Ames to make it safely to work. :( I had packed up car and headed to Manson to stay with Penny and Stan for Christmas. I gave mom her special present right before we left to go to Christmas Eve service at the Catholic church in Manson with Penny, Stan, and Jake. She had the same package as Chris and Amy, but also had a cute poem.

"I do not have a face to see, Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss, I don't yet have a name.
You can't yet hold my tiny hands, Nor whisper in my ear.
It's still too soon to sing a song, Or cuddle me so near.
But all will change come August, That’s when they say I'm due.
I'm your new grandson or grandaughter; I can't wait till I meet you.
All I ask between now and then Is your patience while I grow.
I promise I'll be worth the wait, Because of all the love we'll know.
So what I have to give you now, Is a wish to you from me.
I cannot wait to be a part Of this wonderful family."

And like my mom typically does....she cried! Dad didn't make it to Penny and Stan's until after church. We were sitting around the table and we whispered to Jake to say out loud that Aunt Missy has a baby in her belly. He said it and at first dad didn't catch on. So, Jake said it again and louder. This time dad heard him and said are you sure and turned to ask me. He was surprised and happy too.
Mean while...George was calling his family members back in Ghana, London and in Virigina. His dad said it's about time that he gets a grandchild! (Ours will be the first on the Osai side). Then he said he was going out to celebrate!
What a wonderful Christmas season it was to share our news
